Performance videography has a number of challenges:
-
Most performances are one-time events. If the audio and video are not captured perfectly, they can't be recreated later.
-
Often there are several centers of attention happening on stage at the same time, and the audio/music is an important component of the process. To do a performance justice, multiple cameras and microphones are typically necessary, along with time-intensive editing.
-
Many performances are done by arts, dance, religious or other nonprofit organizations with limited funding.
To address these challenges, we:
-
Have standard, written shooting procedures and use only experienced videographers
-
Shoot most performances with 3 cameras, at least one of which are high definition (HDV)
-
Use separate, high quality microphones on the stage and in the audience, and often mix in the sound company's audio as well.
-
Offer a 20% nonprofit discount
-
Work with dance companies and other organizations to sell and ship directly to parents whenever possible, minimizing their workload and financial risk
