Performances

Performance videography has a number of challenges:

• Most performances are one-time events. If the audio and video are not captured perfectly, they can't be recreated later.

• Often there are several centers of attention happening on stage at the same time, and the audio/music is an important component of the process. To do a performance justice, multiple cameras and microphones are typically necessary, along with time-intensive editing.

• Many performances are done by arts, dance, religious or other nonprofit organizations with limited funding.

To address these challenges, we:

• Have standard, written shooting procedures and use only experienced videographers

• Shoot most performances with 3 cameras, at least one of which are high definition (HDV)

• Use separate, high quality microphones on the stage and in the audience, and often mix in the sound company's audio as well.

• Offer a 20% nonprofit discount

• Work with dance companies and other organizations to sell and ship directly to parents whenever possible, minimizing their workload and financial risk
